Construction Update
In October 2007, voters in the Basehor-Linwood School District approved a $39.9 million bond, which will provide for construction of new facilities, as well as additions and renovations to current facilities. Construction progress will be updated on a regular basis.

The following report was given at the February 8, Board of Education meeting by Chris Claflin, construction manager.

Linwood Elementary: This project was completed in the fall of 2009.

Glenwood Ridge Elementary: This project was completed for the 2009-2010 school year.

Basehor Intermediate School: Finishing touches continue. The major project left is landscaping. Seeding will begin when the landscapers can drill in the seed.

Basehor-Linwood Middle School: Weather continues to slow progress. The concrete slabs in the cafeteria and big gym have heaved and cracked. The contractor is in the process of putting together a plan to deal with this problem.

The exterior of the classroom wings is reaching its completion and you can now see what the building is going to look like. The copper panels that you see on the north end will also be on the upper wall of the administration area and the upper walls of the music rooms. There will be a sloped copper finished metal roof that runs the length of the building over the main corridor.

The classroom wing is being heated and finishes are being completed. The ceiling grid, gypsum board soffits and lighting are in most of the sixth, seventh and eighth grade wings. The library/media center has most of its ceiling work completed. The casework for the sixth and eighth grade wings has arrived and will be installed. Lockers will be arriving soon. We are planning to move the classroom areas in May.

The administration wing is roofed and the rest of the rooms on the east side of the main corridor should be roofed within the next two weeks.

Murray and Sons Construction have assured us we will be in on time with the caveat that the big gym may not be finished.
